Randy W. Hamilton
Founder
Mr. Hamilton is a founder of Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and served as Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer from the company's inception through November 1999. He remained
Executive Chairman of the Board until June 2002. Prior to founding Salix, Mr. Hamilton was Manager of Business Development for California Biotechnology, Inc. (now Scios, Inc.), responsible for the commercial
aspects of several of the company's development projects, including human lung surfactant, drug delivery systems, genetic marker diagnosis, and growth factors. He was also responsible for establishing
strategic relationships with the Japanese pharmaceutical industry. Before joining California Biotechnology, Inc., Mr. Hamilton was Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development for SmithKline
Diagnostics, then a division of SmithKline Beckman, where he also held positions in market research and marketing information services. Mr. Hamilton received a B.A. in sociology from California State
University, Long Beach. In 1998, Mr. Hamilton was named "Man of the Year" by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Bay Area chapter.

Lorin K. Johnson, Ph.D.
Founder and Chief Scientific Liaison
Dr. Johnson is a founder of Salix and serves as Chief Scientific Liaison. Previously he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer from November 1999 through September 2002. Prior to
that date, he served as Vice President of Research from inception and was a member of the Company's Board of Directors from inception to June 2000. Prior to founding Salix, Dr. Johnson served as Director
of Scientific Operations and Chief Scientist at California Biotechnology Inc. (now Scios, Inc.) where he headed research on anti-inflammatory therapeutics. Prior to joining California Biotechnology,
Dr. Johnson was Assistant Professor of Pathology at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Johnson is the co-author of 72 journal articles and book chapters and is the co-inventor on 16 issued patents.
Dr. Johnson received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Southern California and was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco.

John F. Chappell
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Chappell has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Salix since December 1993 and as a member of its Audit and Compensation Committees since December 1994. He was named Chairman of the Board
in September 2003. In 1990 he founded Plexus Ventures, which specializes in business development and strategic transactions for clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and drug delivery industries.
Prior to founding Plexus, Mr. Chappell served as Chairman, Worldwide Pharmaceuticals for SmithKline Beecham plc (now GlaxoSmithKline plc), where he was responsible for the multi-billion dollar ethical
pharmaceutical business with 30,000 employees worldwide. During his 28 years at SmithKline Beecham, Mr. Chappell also headed the International Consumer Products (OTC) operations and the Corporate Development
Center. He has served as a Director of SmithKline Beecham, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (now PhRMA) and the Industrial Biotechnology Association (now BIO). Additionally, Mr. Chappell has
served as a Director of a number of biotechnology companies and is currently a member of Main Line Health Board of Governors. Mr. Chappell holds a B.A. degree from Harvard University and attended the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Thomas D'Alonzo
Mr. D'Alonzo joined the Board of Directors of Salix in May 2000 with over 25 years of pharmaceutical executive experience. He currently serves as CEO of MiMedx Inc., a publicly traded orthopedic
implant company. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. D'Alonzo served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD), a publicly traded research, development and
consulting services in life and discovery sciences company with over 3,000 employees worldwide. Before joining PPD, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of GENVEC, Inc.
(gene therapy biotech) from 1993 to 1996. From 1983 to 1993, Mr. D'Alonzo held positions of increasing responsibility within Glaxo Inc., including President of Glaxo, Inc. Mr. D'Alonzo is a director
of Amarillo Biosciences, Inc., a publicly traded company. Mr. D'Alonzo currently serves on the boards of MiMedx Inc., Plexigen Inc., a private biochip company, and DARA BioSciences, Inc., a publicly traded
biopharmaceuticals company (NASDAQ: DARA). Mr. D'Alonzo received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Delaware, and his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law.

Richard A. Franco, Sr., R.Ph.
Mr. Franco joined the Board of Directors of Salix in May 2000 with over 32 years of pharmaceutical executive and sales and marketing experience. He is currently President of The Richards Group,
Ltd., a healthcare consulting firm. Mr. Franco is also director of NeoMatrix, Inc., a breast care diagnostics company, and the Research Triangle Chapter of the National Association of Corporate
Directors (NACD). Since 1997, Mr. Franco has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of DARA BioSciences, Inc., and as Chairman, President, CEO and founder of LipoScience, Inc.,
a spectroscopic analysis company for clinical diagnostics. From April 1994 to April 1996, Mr. Franco served as President and CEO of Trimeris, Inc., a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company.
Previously, Mr. Franco served as a corporate officer and member of the Executive Committee of Glaxo Inc., as well as Vice President and General Manager of Glaxo Dermatology, Vice President and
General Manager of the Cerenex Division, Vice President of Commercial Development, and Vice President of Marketing. Prior to joining Glaxo, Mr. Franco was with Eli Lilly and Company for 16 years.
Mr. Franco received his pharmacy degree from St. John's University and attended Long Island University for his graduate work in pharmaceutical marketing and management.

William Harral, III
Mr. Harral joined the Board of Directors of Salix in September 2005. Since 2001, Mr. Harral has served as President of the Barra Foundation, a private foundation in Pennsylvania. He serves as Chairman
of C&D Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer and marketer of electrical storage and power conversion products, is a trustee for the Bryn Mawr Hospital foundation in Pennsylvania and a national
board member of the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic organization in New Jersey. In 1997 Mr. Harral retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell
Atlantic-Pennsylvania, Inc. During his 36 years at Bell Atlantic, Mr. Harral held senior management positions in finance, marketing, customer service, external affairs and network operations. Following his
career at Bell Atlantic, Mr. Harral served as Interim Dean at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business. Currently, Mr. Harral serves as an advisory board member for Drexel University's LeBow College of Business
Center for Corporate Governance. Mr. Harral graduated from Gettysburg College and holds an advanced degree from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology.

William P. Keane
Mr. Keane joined the Board of Directors of Salix in January 2004 and has more than 30 years of financial and executive experience primarily in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Mr. Keane has a
breadth of operational and strategic expertise, including international operations, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic analysis. Most recently as CFO at Genta Incorporated, Mr. Keane was responsible
for the financial, strategic, and information technology functions of this biopharmaceutical company as it transitioned from an R&D focus to a commercial entity. In addition, Mr. Keane has
served as Vice President of Sourcing, Strategy and Operations Effectiveness for Bristol-Myers Squibb, CFO for Covance Biotechnology Services Inc., and Vice President of Finance, Global Pharmaceutical
Manufacturing for Warner-Lambert. During his twelve-year career with Ciba-Geigy/Novartis, Mr. Keane held increasingly senior national and international financial and operational positions, culminating in
Director of Finance and Administration for the UK pharmaceuticals business of Novartis AG. Mr. Keane also serves on the Board of Directors of Intellect Neurosciences, Inc. Mr. Keane received a B.A. degree
in Microbiology from Rutgers College and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Rutgers University School of Management.

pharmaceutical sales and marketing experience including extensive experience building and/or rebuilding specialty pharmaceutical sales forces. Before joining Salix, she served as Vice President, Sales and
Marketing of the Oclassen Dermatologics division of Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from May 1997 to June 2000, and as Vice President, Sales from February 1997 to May 1997. Prior to that date, she served as
Director, Sales of Oclassen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from January 1993 to February 1997. Prior to joining Oclassen, Ms. Logan held various sales and marketing positions of increasing responsibility with
Galderma Laboratories, Ulmer Pharmacal and Westwood Pharmaceuticals. Ms. Logan received a B.S. degree in Biology and Dental Hygiene from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mark A. Sirgo, Pharm. D.
Dr. Sirgo joined the Board of Directors of Salix in February 2008 with over 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience spanning clinical drug development, executive management, business development, marketing
and sales. He currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of BioDelivery Sciences International, Inc. (NASDAQ: BDSI), a specialty pharmaceutical company. Prior to this position he was a co-founder
and CEO of Arius Pharmaceuticals. Prior to his involvement with Arius Pharmaceuticals, he spent 16 years in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in both clinical development and marketing at
Glaxo, Glaxo Wellcome, and GlaxoSmithKline, including Vice President of International OTC Development and Vice President of New Product Marketing. Dr. Sirgo was responsible for managing the development and FDA
approval of Zantac 75 while at Glaxo Wellcome among other accomplishments. From 1996 to 1999, Dr. Sirgo was Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD).
Dr. Sirgo received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Ohio State University and his Doctorate from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Adam C. Derbyshire

Mr. Derbyshire joined Salix in June 2000, bringing with him extensive pharmaceutical industry experience in finance, accounting, investor relations and general corporate matters. Prior to joining Salix,
Mr. Derbyshire was Vice President, Corporate Controller and Secretary of Medco Research, Inc. (acquired by King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in February 2000) from June 1999 to June 2000, and as Corporate Controller
and Secretary from September 1995 to June 1999. Prior to that date, he served as Assistant Controller of Medco Research, Inc. from October 1993 to September 1995. Mr. Derbyshire received his B.S. degree from
the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

William P. Forbes, Pharm.D.
Vice President, Research & Development, and Chief Development Officer
Dr. Forbes has served as Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Development Officer at Salix since January 2005. Dr. Forbes has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical development.
Prior to joining Salix, Dr. Forbes served as the Vice President of Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs at Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. Prior to that he served as a Group Leader at Otsuka America
Pharmaceutical, Inc. since 1996, and held various senior management positions in clinical research at Otsuka since 1991. Before joining Otsuka, Dr. Forbes served as Senior Clinical Research Scientist at
Glaxo, Inc. Dr. Forbes has had responsibilities involving the clinical research and development of numerous new chemical entities in a variety of therapeutic indications including gastroenterology and
infectious disease. Dr. Forbes received his Pharm.D. from Creighton University and conducted post-doctoral works at the Creighton Cardiac Center and the Cardiovascular Clinical Research department at Glaxo.
